It's only been about two months since this went round the votetakers
list, at last I've got around to it and got this post together...

History

In the previous two elections the following process has been followed
for receipt of the nominations and confirmation of the seconders

1) CFN posted to unna
2) Nomination received
3) Mail sent to Nominators asking for confirmation of nomination of
candidate.
4) reply received

and if required

5) Bit about nominee for voting form
6) CFV Issued.

Item (1) lasts for 18days

In the last election step (3) ended up lasting 4 weeks, as the previous
year we had allowed a candidate to get another seconder when one didn't
reply.

To slightly speed up the process I am seeking advice on the following
changes.

2) Nomination received
2a) Nominee then arranges for seconders to reply to 'votetaker'[1]
within 7 days (or close of nominations - whichever is longer) and
forwards 'bit for voting paper' just in case.
2b) if seconders all reply within time period then nomination stands,
else nomination is dropped on the floor.

NOTE :- IT IS UP TO THE NOMINEE TO CHASE THE NOMINATORS.

Votetaker then has 4 days to prepare CFV if required for posting on 1st
November (votetakers have already been allocated, Myself and Barry)

[1] Votetaker will be 'yet another forwarding mailbox' set up for the
occasion.

What do people think?

Is this fair?, or should 'we' allow people to get another seconder? if
so how long to wait for confirmation?
