As mentioned above, 6 e-mails containing the Swen trojan were received to the Ballot Request address, so this could become a major issue for future CFVs. Two votes were received to the address which the autoballots are sent from (in this case, xrod01 autoballot ukvoting), but they were later resubmitted to the correct address. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This vote was conducted by two neutral third party members of UKVoting. UKVoting is a group of independent votetakers who count votes on behalf of the uk.* hierarchy and other 3rd parties. The rules under which votes for the uk.* hierarchy are taken are posted regularly to uk.net.news.announce or can be found at the following URL: The UKVoting web pages can be found at There is a five day discussion period after these results are posted to uk.net.news.announce. Allegations of irregularity should be sent to control@usenet.org.uk. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RATIONALE: Paragraph 8 of the voting guidelines state (w.r.t ROD) "Additionally, this option shall be included in any ballot should the committee so request, or if 4 or more people so petition during the RFD stage" but does not make it clear how that petition should be made. In the past people have suggested unnc, control@usenet.org.uk and committee@usenet.org.uk all of which are reasonable but none are guarenteed to be deemed the correct place when it comes to counting them. Given that this option is most likely to be used during controversial RFDs it seems sensible to specify somewhere now rather than waiting for the argument that would follow the committee deciding that objections to a certain place should / should not be counted. I have proposed having control@usenet.org.uk as the correct place as that is used elsewhere, I'm open to reasons why it should by any of the other places. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PROPOSAL Change point 8 of the voting procedures from Additionally, this option shall be included in any ballot should the committee so request, or if 4 or more people so petition during the RFD stage. to Additionally, this option shall be included in any ballot should the committee so request, or if 4 or more people so petition, by e- mailing control@usenet.org.uk, during the RFD stage.
