This was unfortunate and hopefully will not happen again. As normal there were a number of people sending blank votepapers and ones with bit's missing, as the reply for this vote were scripted this may have caused a number of people not to get a prompt to send a valid vote as there was no user interaction unless I'd picked up the vote while away from home via pop3. the people whose votes were affected by this were David Boothroyd, Mike Paley 4) Voting and Appeal guidelines This vote was conducted by a neutral third party member of UKVoting. UKVoting is a group of independent votetakers who count votes on CFVs in the uk hierarchy. The rules under which this vote is taken are posted regularly to uk.net.news.announce or can be found at the following URL: ftp://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/usenet/news-info/news.answers/uk/voting The UKVoting web pages can be found at http://www.ukvoting.org.uk/ There is a five day discussion period after these results are posted to uk.net.news.announce. Allegations of irregularity should be sent to control@usenet.org.uk. 5) Rationale & Newsgroup charter Rationale Under 'Cross-posting' to add: Cross posting between any gun group and uk.politics.misc is specifically forbidden. This would not, of course forbid discussion of matters relating to guns on the (rare) occasion that they are relevant to British politics. It does not seek to limit discussion as such, just cross posting. It is noted that there is already a separate group uk.politics.guns. This proposed alteration is designed to limit some of the periodic abuses by American gun nuts flaming with multiple cross posting of little relevance to the UK or British politics. Charter - ---------------------------------------------------------------- The charter as amended would read: Charter: uk.politics.misc is a group aimed at wide ranging discussion, the only restriction being that issues discussed must be of a political nature. The group is expected to concentrate on the politics of or affecting the UK, and is open to posters from outside the UK as well as within it. Cross posting: Excessive cross posting is inappropriate. Cross posting to other groups in the uk.politics.* hierarchy MUST be on-topic for those groups, and is generally discouraged because of the likelihood of subject drift. Cross posting to more than two special-topic uk.politics.* groups, or to uk.politics.misc and special-topic group(s) simultaneously is not allowed. Cross posting to more than a total of 4 groups (including this one) is strongly discouraged. Cross posting between any gun group and uk.politics.misc is specifically forbidden. Advertising: Is forbidden, except that short (less than 20 lines) announcements of relevant events are allowed. Binaries: Binaries (apart from PGP signatures) are not permitted, but directions as to where binaries may be found are welcomed. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6 iQCVAgUBNpEa72OfGXkh8vHZAQEcpAP/ZjzHI568qw7+ytLH3bn/WCmtuSmMknGX Iqujq+IJiT932PDRw57anBKElDUkIJb0VlRv0AeiQGxUGe40HM6AYerw4m+IgE3z 4IvKYTdu+r9VdAVhyKkAYMnr0X0773LX9Jld7SKmhz3MmyQBLoXx95oZz2aGf5/h VWux512cKpI= =kR8e -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
