This resulted in the fourth person to be elected winning by a margin of just 0.45 votes. As usual, voter verification was mostly fairly easy as I've been in UKV for more years than I care to recall, but was hampered for a couple of names I didn't recognise by configuration changes made by their e-mail providers and Google's "breaking" of Groups such that usenet posts are difficult to search for, at best. As usual, I'd like to offer my congratulations to Geoff, Clive, Mark and kat; and commiserations to Paul and Owen. Pedt:- I endorse everything Barry has said. My congratulations and commiserations to the candidates as well ====================================================================== Voting and Appeal Information This vote was conducted by neutral third party members of UKVoting. Geoff Berrow Mark Goodge Fiona Gostling (aka 'Kat') The following Open Class Member has announced their resignation from the Committee with effect from 1st January 2015, creating an additional vacancy. Clive D. W. Feather ======================================================================== Candidates: Six nominations have been received. The Committee has four vacancies and therefore an election will be held to fill the four vacancies. A list of the candidates is below: Geoff Berrow Candidate A Paul Cummins Candidate B Owen Dunn Candidate C Clive George Candidate D Mark Goodge Candidate E kat aka Fiona Gostling Candidate F Please find below details of the people who nominated each candidate (Name & Email Address) and a short statement from each candidate. Although its popularity has declined I still believe that to be true and if any way could be found to give it a new lease of life then I'd like to be around to help that happen. ======================================================================== Candidate B Name: Paul Cummins E-Mail: paulcummins (at) tiscali (dot) co (dot) uk Nominators: Name: Clive Feather E-Mail: clive (at) davros (dot) org Name: Alan le Hun E-Mail: alan (at) lehun (dot) clara (dot) co (dot) uk Name: kat E-Mail: katstuff (at) the-kat (dot) org Name: Rob Morley E-Mail: nospam (at) ntlworld (dot) com Personal Statement: I'm pretty sure I need no introductions. I've been invoved in Usenet since the 1990's, an active member of UK usenet since 1999, and have now worked in IT for longer than I care to remember. I've made you laugh, I've made you cry, I've lied to you in the past and apologised for it when I got older and, maybe, wiser. I'd like to give something back. And I promise to to touch the committe mail server, or argue with uk.voting, too much anyway. It would be a privilege to serve the community I enjoy interacting with as much as I do. ======================================================================== Candidate C Name: Owen Dunn E-Mail: owend (at) chiark (dot) greenend (dot) org (dot) uk Nominators: Name: Mark Goodge E-Mail: mark (at) good-stuff (dot) co (dot) uk Name: David Damerell E-Mail: damerell (at) chiark (dot) greenend (dot) org (dot) uk Name: Clive George E-Mail: clive (at) evil-c (dot) co (dot) uk Name: Adam Funk E-Mail: a24061a (at) ducksburg (dot) com Personal Statement: None provided. ======================================================================== Candidate D Name: Clive George E-Mail: clive (at) evil-c (dot) co (dot) uk Nominators: Name: Clive D. I'm not diplomatic enough to count as one of "the great and the good", but I think I'm not too antagonistic to be able to work with people to make things happen when necessary. I'm under no illusions on the state of usenet - I think it's dying, and I fully expect there to be very little for the committee to do. I'm not standing with any grand ideas on how to change this. But should something appear I'm prepared to put my best efforts into helping it. ======================================================================== Candidate E Name: Mark Goodge E-Mail: mark (at) good-stuff (dot) co (dot) uk Nominators: Name: kat E-Mail: kat (at) the-kat (dot) org Name: Tony Evans E-Mail: tony (at) darkstorm (dot) co (dot) uk Name: Matthew Vernon E-Mail: matthew (at) debian (dot) org Name: John Hall E-Mail: john (at) jhall (dot) co (dot) uk Personal Statement: I have been doing this job for what seems like ages. I am willing to carry on doing it until either people no longer want me to, or I get fed up with it, whichever comes first. The latter hasn't happened yet, so I'm standing for re-election. Which means it's over to you, folks. ======================================================================== Candidate F Name: kat aka Fiona Gostling E-Mail: katstuff (at) the-kat (dot) org Nominators: Name: Molly Romanov E-Mail: com2014 (at) mollymockford (dot) me (dot) uk Name: John Hall E-Mail: john (at) jhall (dot) co (dot) uk Name: Tony Evans E-Mail: tony (at) darkstorm (dot) co (dot) uk Name: Alan Lehun E-Mail: alan (at) lehun (dot) clara (dot) co (dot) uk Personal Statement: I have been a committee member for over 10 years. If re-elected I will continue to do as I have been doing, to give the view of the ordinary user of usenet, as best I can. The hierarchy has been running smoothly, and I hope will long continue to do so, but should there be any problems, I will continue to work to solve them. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 1.4.12 Charset: noconv iQCVAwUBVFz2oWOfGXkh8vHZAQEWBwP/cYOm4al7PcaLyUbDX0a7kLC14lY83347 GDosaCTBnzQdUGoKOUPVg3x4yUmdErxvXlHxxvuouropzvyGb6UIMMNJ/9i5O82f VayzkyzaEdY0mJlHR9GQXwc7UCWpwuTQS7jEtU/bXE8XQxOANvexFHWzbEioyToS HlPnTn6UZmE= =pql8 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
