For voting questions only contact Mark Alexander For questions about the proposal itself contact Adrian Wontroba SUMMARY Creation of uk.adverts.stolen.* passed 45:10 (1 Abstention) Creation of uk.adverts.stolen.announce passed 46:10 Creation of uk.adverts.stolen.d passed passed 39:16 (1 Abstention) For group passage, YES votes must be a majority of all valid (YES and NO) votes. There also must be at least 12 more YES votes than NO votes. There is a five day discussion period after these results are posted. If no serious allegations of voting irregularities are raised, the group will be created shortly thereafter. One Liners ---------- uk.adverts.stolen.announce Announcements concerning stolen items (Moderated) uk.adverts.stolen.d Discussions relevant to stolen items DISTRIBUTION This RESULT will be cross-posted to the following relevant newsgroups: uk.net.news.announce uk.net.news.config uk.net.news uk.misc uk.announce RATIONALE At present there is no uk group in which people can post announcements about stolen items where they can be seen by people who want to read them. This CFV proposes an announcements group (announce), which could be split if traffic warrants it, and a discussion group (d). Special measures are proposed to handle inappropriate postings. CHARTERS uk.adverts.stolen.announce -------------------------- This group is intended to hold relevant announcements about stolen items. "Relevant" here has a strict definition. An original article must be either: The announcement of the presumed theft of something within the UK and be from somebody with a direct connection with the loss. or From one of the moderators. Followups by the original author are restricted to retractions, corrections, and statements of recovery. Followups within this group by others are not permitted. Articles should be temperate and should not contain threats. A split may be proposed if the traffic volume for a particular class of loss becomes too large. For example, there may one day be a proposal for uk.adverts.stolen.announce.computers. Moderation This group will be moderated - possibly with the assistance of an automaton. The moderator(s) will reject inappropriate articles and ensure that followups will, by default, be redirected to uk.adverts.stolen.d. To facilitate discussion, articles will be cross-posted to uk.adverts.stolen.d. The moderator(s) will have the right to cancel articles which are not relevant, whether due to their having slipped past the automaton, forgery or accident. No volunteers came forward during the discussion period, so the group will be moderated by the Proponent. (Adrian Wontroba ). Advertising No articles seeking financial return will be permitted. Attempts to post such may result in complaints being made to the poster, their postmaster or newsmaster, or their connectivity supplier. Binaries Binary articles (uuencoded GIFs etc) are not permitted. However, URLs for such are encouraged. Large articles Articles containing more than 4,000 characters will seldom be accepted. Archival The proponent may, in due course, implement an archive and mail server. uk.adverts.stolen.d ------------------- This group is intended to hold discussions arising from announcements in the other uk.adverts.stolen.* groups. Moderation This group will be retrospectively moderated, in that the moderator(s) of the moderated groups within uk.adverts.stolen will have the right to cancel articles breaching the advertising, binaries and large articles clauses. Advertising No articles seeking financial return will be permitted. Such postings may result in complaints being made to the poster, their postmaster or newsmaster, or their connectivity supplier. Binaries Binary articles (uuencoded GIFs etc) are not permitted. However, URLs for such are encouraged. Large articles Articles containing more than 4,000 characters will seldom be accepted.
