RESULT: uk.*.{net-}client.* Author: Mark Alexander Email: mark@alexr.co.uk Date: 1996/01/11 Forums: uk.net.news.config, uk.net.news.announce, demon.ip.support.turnpike Message-ID: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESULT uk.comp.net-client and uk.comp.net-client.turnpike to be created Advertising to be permitted as suggested in RFD Voting closed 23:59:59 UTC, 7 January 1996. This vote was conducted by a neutral third party. For voting questions only contact Mark Alexander The groups were by J.P.Gilliver DISTRIBUTION ------------ These RESULTS will be cross-posted to the following relevant newsgroups: CHARTER uk.comp.net-client.turnpike ------- This group is for discussing UK aspects of the turnpike net client. e.g. discussion of: desired enhancements, bugfixes and workarounds, the responses of the software writers etc. Short advertisements (the shorter of 20 lines and 1500 bytes) would be allowed, provided they were for related products - add-ons for example. BINARIES are not permitted. (A binary group may be created later if a demand is perceived to exist.) CHARTER uk.comp.net-client ------- This group would be for discussing UK aspects of net clients in general. e.g. discussion of: desired enhancements, bugfixes and workarounds, the responses of the software writers etc. As uk.comp.net-client.turnpike exists this general group should obviously _not_ include specifically Turnpike matters, unless they affect the subject in general. I anticipate that other sub-groups (e. g. Pegasus, [Free] Agent, even WinDIS, and so on) might appear in time. Short advertisements (the shorter of 20 lines and 1500 bytes) would be allowed, provided they were for related products - add-ons for example. BINARIES are not permitted. (A binary group may be created later if a demand is perceived to exist.) ONE-LINE DESCRIPTIONs: ---------------------- uk.comp.net-client.turnpike Discussion of UK aspects of the net client software `Turnpike'. uk.comp.net-client Discussion of general UK aspects of net clients. There were 41 valid votes on this question. 29 voted for the uk.comp heirarchy 12 voted for the uk.net heirarchy The groups will therefore be created in the uk.comp heirarchy. The THIRD question was whether advertising should be UNLIMITED, as suggested by the RFD or NOt allowed. There were 50 valid votes on this question. 1 voted for UNLIMITED advertising 38 voted for advertising as RFD 12 voted for NO advertising Advertising will therefore be permitted as follows (extracted from the RFD and CFV).
