Creation of newsgroup uk.local.glasgow

=================================================================

RATIONALE:
- ----------
Glasgow is a large and active city in a highly populated area yet
it currently has no relevant local group in the uk hierarchy.

SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION
- ---------------------
There was general consensus for the creation of the group apart from a
few who believed all scottish local groups should go in the scot.* hierarchy.
A Glasgow alt group was created during discussion however people have
indicated they would also like a uk.local.* group.

=================================================================

CHARTER: uk.local.glasgow

uk.local.glasgow is for the discussion of issues relating to
the Glasgow area, which includes the city itself and other nearby
areas which are not covered by other uk.local groups.

Contributions are welcome from people who: live, study, work or
have an interest in the area and it's culture, history, sport,
festivals and other attractions or plan to visit the area.

  Cross Posting:

Messages posted to this newsgroup must not be cross-posted to more
than a TOTAL of four uk.local.* newsgroups; these may be
geographically adjacent or overlapping, or connected by the subject of
the post (eg "moving house from Glasgow to London").

  Advertising:

Advertising is forbidden with the following exceptions. Short
announcements of non-commercial events which are of direct relevance
to the people within the Glasgow area are welcome. They must not be
posted more than once a week and the use of "ANN:" in the subject is
        recommended.

Participants in discussions may include references & URL's to
commercial ventures in their sig file as long as it does not exceed
6 lines in total, 4 lines or less is preferred.

  Binaries and Formatting:

All posts must be in plain text; HTML and other types of formatted
text are forbidden. With the explicit exception of cryptographic
signatures (eg PGP), all encoded binaries are forbidden. Forbidden
binaries include, but are not limited to: pictures, sounds, word
processor documents, executable programs and "business cards". If a
picture or other binary is relevant to discussion it should be placed
elsewhere (eg on a webpage) and a pointer to it's location may be
        posted on the group.

You are invited to read a guide on the World Wide Web at
        http://www.usenet.org.uk/ukpost.html for further information
on how to configure your newsreader to post to uk* newsgroups.

Warning: Anyone posting advertisements, binaries or other
material contrary to this charter may be reported to their ISP
        or postmaster.
